Love As Strong As Death ~
When You spoke to me Lord
Your words… The pauses between
The breaths You took when forming them,
Built ramparts around my tender places.
I, made of glass, ran… Afraid of
Your diamonded fortress:
“Too strong” thought I, “He will crush me,
I shall die.” And yet
Your Spirit whispered
Strength to my soul.
Slowly… The jewels You spoke
Beaded themselves around my heart;
They have made me Your treasured possession.
They pull me towards You…
Like great anchored weights
That won’t allow me to be tossed
Against the rocks… I’m tied fast
To Your harbor in the storm.
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Song of Solomon 8:6
